After 3 weeks in Brain Balance we are finally getting into the grove of doing exercises after school and before bed, listening to music several times in the car, and believe it or not it only took Josh 4 days to get accustomed to his new diet.
The hardest part has been decreased screen time. For a kid that lives and breaths games he completely lost it the other day when his game wasn't working since he only had 1 hour. To top it off while outside he fell off his scooter and strained both his wrists and scraped his knees. I keep trying to tell him that all these new experiences are there to make him stronger for the future. Hoping that what mom says has some weight...haha
We met a friend at Brain Balance near the beginning. Ian started about the same time and goes through the sessions with Josh. We have taken them for smoothies and to a playground and they seem to get along pretty well! His mom Jane has been awesome and we walk around while the boys are in session dreaming of starting a school, or a program, or anything else to help out kids and parents that have to go through the same daily trials.
This week we have seen improvement in writing, communicating, and following through with distractions.
The first week Josh would come out barefoot, the second week he had one sock on, this week he had shoes on and tied!
I love that this program promotes nutrition, creativity, physical activity, and support. Love that the nutritionist and all the other BBers are always posting new recipes and that we have so much support (via facebook of course!)
Tomorrow Josh and I are going to bake a GF, egg free cake with frosting made from coconut oil, dark chocolate, and vanilla.
